Portfolio Committees
The Licensing Executives Society of South Africa (LES SA) has various portfolio committees responsible for providing content for LES SA meetings and conferences and for providing a forum where members with an interest in a particular industry or aspect of the Licensing profession can meet, network with and exchange ideas and experiences with like-minded members.

The following is a list of these portfolio committees together with their functions and LES SA members are invited to join any of these committees:

Environment, Energy, Materials, and Chemicals (CEEM)
Promotes licensing in the oil petrochemical, chemical, polymers, renewable energy, and associated industries by, inter alia, promoting networking among its members, sponsoring appropriate educational activities such as workshops, lectures, and seminars and identifying and collaborating on problem areas of concern to, and major new developments in, these industries.

High Technology
Promotes licensing in industries involving physical sciences including consumer electronics, software, information technology, digital content, telecommunications, nanotechnology, semiconductors, mobile devices, transportation, aerospace, automotive and other electrical and mechanical systems. Activities include coordinating and collaborating with LES national society committees, promoting networking among members, sponsoring educational activities such as workshops, lectures, and seminars, and identifying and collaborating on areas of concern and new developments in these industries.

Life Science
Promotes licensing in the pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, agrobio, genetic engineering, medical diagnostics and associated industries including by promoting networking among its members, organising educational activities such as workshops, lectures, and seminars, including focused LES100 workshops relevant to the Life Sciences, and identifying and collaborating with respect to interests and challenges within the local Life Sciences.

Industry and University Liason
Promotes the licensing profession involved with transactions between Industry and University/Government bodies, by inter alia, promoting networking among its members, sponsoring appropriate educational activities such as workshops, lectures, and seminars and identifying and collaborating on problem areas of concern to, and major new developments in, this profession.

Patent and Technology Licensing
Promotes the licensing profession involved with transactions concerning patents and technology, by, inter alia, promoting networking among its members, sponsoring appropriate educational activities such as workshops, lectures, and seminars and identifying and collaborating on problem areas of concern to, and major new developments in, this profession.

Copyright, Trade marks, Designs and Merchandising 

Promotes:

  • the licensing of copyrights by, among other things, promoting networking among its members, sponsoring appropriate educational activities such as workshops, lectures, and seminars, and identifying and collaborating on problem areas of concern to, and major new developments in copyrights; and
  • the licensing profession involved with trademarks, designs and merchandising, by, inter alia, promoting networking among its members, sponsoring appropriate educational activities such as workshops, lectures, and seminars and identifying and collaborating on problem areas of concern to, and major new developments in, this profession.
