One Day Licensing Course, April 2021
LES South Africa presented its internationally adopted one day licensing course for the first time on-line on 22 April 2021. The course was presented by Danie Dohmen, Madelein Kleyn, Alessia Del Bianco and Alan Lewis. Topics covered included IP basics, introduction to licensing, basics of licensing agreements, basics of licensing, determining reasonable license fees and royalty rates, managing licensing risks, and ends with a licensing game. The course was attended by 20 delegates, including some international delegates. Although it was challenging to negotiate a deal in breakaway rooms with trainers juggling e-balls, it was a successful session and feedback from delegates was very positive.

Advance IP Valuation Conference, November 2021
Once again, together with the Moolman Institute, LES SA presented the hands-on 3-day IP Valuation course from 3 – 5 November 2021 at the picturesque Leipzig Conference Centre. The trainers were Alan Lewis, Theo Doubell, Sean Moolman and Madelein Kleyn. Delegates were introduced to the various IP valuation methodologies, how to conduct IP valuations and the impact that tax, commercial, regulatory and other considerations may have on the value of IP through case studies and group exercises. The course was attended by 15 delegates from technology start-ups, university technology transfer offices, industry and law firms.
