A Sit Down with SAHPRA CEO, Dr. Boitumelo Semete-Makokotlela

The South African Health Products Regulatory Authority (SAHPRA) is tasked with regulating (monitoring, evaluating, investigating, inspecting and registering) all health products. This includes clinical trials, complementary medicines, medical devices and in vitro diagnostics (IVDs). This session will focus on the progress made by SAHPRA in furthering its mandate since assuming responsibility for regulating the health products industry from its predecessor, the Medicines Control Council (MCC). Dr. Semete-Makokotlela will discuss some of the recent changes in the regulation of health products and some of the challenges faced by SAHPRA. She will also respond to a number of questions furnished by industry stakeholders.
